About AMSRG

The mission of the Aaron Matthew SIDS Research Guild at Seattle Children’s Hospital is to ensure that no parent ever experiences the loss of a child again or worries theirs will be next.

Our Story

The Guild was named in honor of Aaron Matthew Kahan, son of Heather Kahan and John B. Kahan, VP and Chief Data Analytics Officer at Microsoft. Aaron died of SIDS days after his birth in 2003. The Guild board includes leaders from Seattle Children’s Hospital’s Integrative Brain Research Institute, Microsoft, Accenture, Marriott Hotels, Adobe, Tata Consulting Services, and VMLY&R.

Our Mission

The Aaron Matthew SIDS Research Guild was established in 2017 to fund and drive much-needed research in the field of Sudden Infant Death, and ultimately, all infant mortality.  Based out of Seattle Children’s Hospital Integrative Brain Research Institute, medical researchers from Seattle Children’s Hospital, New York University, Langone Medical Center, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, University of Virginia, University of Auckland, and University of Bristol England are working collaboratively on this terrible mystery.

In partnership with these medical professionals, Microsoft data scientists continue to devote thousands of hours of technical and data expertise, and Microsoft Philanthropies supports this important work by providing Azure cloud resources.
